Blog 3: Relationships Between Shots
A short skit I chose, comes from youtubers that are known for their editing techniques that include match action, the 180 degree rule, jump cuts, graphic matches and eyeline matches all in a form of a montage. Using all these techniques of filming and editing makes these videos entertaining and unique. The video begins with an image of a comment in a computer and uses graphic match to transition from the image to the image appearing on the characters laptop with the character behind him. After, it transitions to a wide shot, showing his other two friends having a conversation around a table. This scene implements the 180 degree rule where they use 3 cameras behind the 180 degree line and switching shots from face to face while one is talking and the others thinking. They also use eyeline matches where each scene their eyes are leveled and show what each character is looking at during close up shots. The next scene shows various match action cuts between scenes.
